MAJOR development work has been approved at Wigan and Leigh College, to the tune of £29.5 million.
The scheme will provide new college facilities at the Leigh Sports Village, and major refurbishment at Wigan's Parsons Walk site.
A new building will be erected on the existing Pagefield car park, Wigan, which will provide accommodation for the business, engineering and construction faculties.
The existing Linacre Building will be completely refurbished with state-of-the-art facilities, and will become an Arts Centre for students.
Principal Jim Crewdson said: "Most people in Wigan and Leigh will be aware of the College's plans.
"We have let people know at every stage in the process of gaining both planning permission and the funding for the project.
"This has now become a reality."
