FILM buffs are in for a real treat as Chorley Film Society kicks off another season filled with silver screen blockbusters.
The society hopes to admit its 1,000th member at the first showing -- Oscar nominated Cold Mountain -- who will get a year's free membership.
Among the Hollywood hits on offer are Girl With a Pearl Earring starring Scarlett Johansson and Brit Colin Firth and Seabiscuit with Tobey Maguire.
The season also features swashbuckling adventure Pirates of the Caribbean and kids' favourite Shrek. After the festive break the fun continues with Sofia Coppolla's Lost in Translation and Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom and Sean Bean in Troy.
The Film Society, now in its 19th year, aims to provide an up-to-date cinematic experience for Chorley folk.
And this year, for the first time, the Society is launching bonus extras -- cut price showings of classic films to complement the main season.
All screenings are in Dolby six-speaker surround sound at Chorley Little Theatre, Dole Lane.
Entry is just £4 on the night but membership is just £30 (£20 for unwaged) or £50 for a couple which allows entry to all ten films. For more information visit www.chorleyfilm.co.uk or call Chris on 01257 276663.
The first film of the season, Cold Mountain starring Nicole Kidman, is at 7.30pm on Sunday, September 26.
