DAVE Johnson is the first winner of the Ronnie Brabin Cup. Bolton Rivers Association held the inaugural match for the trophy on the top water of Doe Hey.
The match is held in honour of Ronnie, who recently retired as secretary of the Association, a post he held for more than 30 years.
Dave netted a trio of big fish, which turned the scales at 24lbs-14ozs. Bob Fearnhead worked hard throughout, catching small roach on the pole to finish second with 13lbs-8ozs.
Paul Johnson, son of winner Dave, kept it in the family when he finished third with 7lbs-12ozs.
MICK Booth caught carp on the pole for 40lbs-9ozs. to win the Roy Withers Memorial trophy on Shore Top Reservoir.
Frank Smalley was second with 31lbs-4ozs and Les Salmon third with 26lbs-5ozs.
The minor places went to 4th. Les Collier 23-0-0, 5th. Jim Luby 21-9-0, 6th. Steve Burgess 15-3-0.
BOLTON Anglers Association have been busy with access and peg improvements to Gleaves Reservoir.
Anglers have been enjoying better sport with good returns of skimmers and bream that have coincided with the recent improvements.
All BAA Bailiffs have been asked to attend a meeting at Bolton Anglers Club next Wednesday. The meeting commences at 8pm.
