SOMEBODY just had to say it - and Sarah Jessica Parker was the right person.
Accepting her Emmy Award in Los Angeles for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in the hugely successful Sex and the City series, she even thanked members of the public who walked past the show's set.
Her speech was gushingly long and awful, but so wonderfully tacky that you just could not make it up. Great will be the day when someone receiving an award at these often painful events of mutual back-slapping has the guts to simply state: "Thank you for this - I certainly deserve it."
