UP TO 120 jobs will be created by when the Rank Group open their new £19 million casino and bingo hall on November 4.

The Moor Lane leisure development, created in the former Sainsbury's supermarket, will have room for 1,200 bingo players.

It will also feature 14 gaming tables, 22 roulette stations and a 70 seat card room.

A huge party with celebrity guests is expected to mark the opening of the casino which will stay open to 6am.

It will be the town's second casino joining Stanley's in Bridge Street.

Rank's Mecca Bingo Hall on Ashburner Street is due to close to be replaced by the development with around 30 staff relocating to the new site.

But the chain's other club on Breightmet Fold Lane will remain open.

Nigel Sibley, commercial director at the Rank Group's gaming division, said the development was one of his group's largest to date.

He said: "The substantial financial investment in the project shows our commitment to the local community and we will be employing more than 150 staff across the two sites.

"Both venues will have state-of-the-art facilities with a particular focus on the catering and bar facilities to enable customers to enjoy the experience as a whole.

"With the Grosvenor Casino and Mecca Bingo sites being next door to each other it means we can offer customers more choice in their social activities."

The casino and bingo hall will have to remain separate in the 5,700 sq ft building because of gambling laws.
