THE Bolton Golf Association gained an emphatic 9.5-1.5 victory over their local rivals Bury Golf Association at Walmersley.
Bolton's lead players, Tim Philbin (Hindley) and Andy Taylor (Dunscar) set the pace with 7&6 and 7&5 victories over Dave Thornton (Lowes Park) and Rob Main (Rossendale).
A series of wins followed with Paul Grundy (Great Lever) completing his round two up to D. Scott (Lowes Park) followed by 17-year-old Michael Hearn (Chorley), two up to Paul Hambleton (Rossendale) and Rob Taylor (Bolton) one up to Chris Doherty (Bury).
Harry Proos (Dunscar), aged 15, secured a one up win in a hard fought match against Bury team captain Alan Royds (Lowes Park).
The fightback of the match was a half secured by young Joe Morris (Chorley) who was five down after 10 holes.
Other Bolton winners included Chris Bainbridge (Old Links) and Steve Greenhough (Dunscar) with 6&5 and 6&4 wins respectively.
The final match of the BGA season is away to the Fylde Golf Association on Saturday, October 2, at Fairhaven.
