A DISABLED man took the plunge when he swam nearly half a mile in aid of the Mayor of Bolton's charity.
David Mason clocked up 36 lengths, the equivalent of 900 metres at the Jubilee Pool, Darley Street, Halliwell, on Wednesday.
The 47-year-old from Halliwell spent six weeks training for the event. Mr Mason completed the swim in half an hour. He is hoping that his efforts have raised hundreds for the Mayor, Cllr Prentice Howarth's charities.
