A MAN has appeared in court after a 75-year-old woman was dragged several yards along the ground during a robbery.
David Joseph Ward, aged 33, of Ivy Grove, Little Hulton, is accused of robbing Joyce Bradburn as she was standing at a bus stop in Kearsley on Sunday night.
The pensioner's handbag was allegedly snatched by a man in a white van which had pulled up alongside her.
As the vehicle drove off, Mrs Bradburn was dragged along for a short distance before she fell to the ground.
Mrs Bradburn suffered a dislocated shoulder, fractured jaw, broken arm and cuts to her face which required stitches.
She is currently being treated at the Royal Bolton Hospital where she is in a stable condition.
Ward is also facing a second count of robbery in connection with an incident in Chorlton-cum-Hardy earlier on Sunday afternoon. He appeared at Bolton magistrates court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody.
