DANCE teacher Joanna Astley swapped the dance floor for the stage when she performed in a fundraising concert to help send a group of children to a major competition in USA.
Mrs Astley sang a number of swing songs in front of 100 people at the Bolton Moat House Hotel last Saturday.
The concert was organised to raise money to send 19 students from Bolton-based dance school Fame Factory to the Hollywood Dance Excellence competition.
Her musical efforts raised £1,000 towards the £25,000 total.
Mrs Astley said: "The night went really well. There was a large crowd at the concert and everyone had a good time. We are getting nearer to our target."
More fundraising events are planned , including another car wash, a junior disco and a Halloween party.
The disco will take place on Friday, October 8, at 7.30pm at the Connexions building, Stanley Street, Bolton. Tickets are £3. Call 01204 456 266 for details.
