SPORTS presenter Barry Davies is quite right: TV match commentators generally talk too much.
We do not need a football-by-numbers approach to games because players have names on their backs and we can actually see what they're doing.
Davies's judicious pausing is far preferable. Unfortunately, today they seem to want gabblers who think their uninformed opinions are more important than the match.
