REFERRING to "National Walk to School Week". I walk my son to and from school every day, we both enjoy the walk and get a chance to talk about the different things we see.

But we have a problem - we use the pedestrian crossing on Chorley New Road, Lostock, which is situated near the Beehive roundabout coming into Horwich from Bolton.

Sometimes drivers do not stop - even when the lights are on red and the "green man" is on - for us to walk. It is very dangerous.

Chorley New Road at Lostock is a fast road with a 40mph speed limit, so these drivers who go through on a red light do so at speed.

I have contacted the council and the police on several occasions; I have also contacted a councillor, but no one seems to care.

I am enthusiastic about walking children to school, but at what cost?

Will it take an accident at these particular lights before someone will help, either by putting a camera on the lights or putting a clearly marked sign up warning drivers that they are approaching a pedestrian crossing?

Someone please let me know.
