BOLTON and District Round Table have presented Chorley Amateur Boxing Club with a cheque for £500 which will be used to help fund the club's running costs.
The money was raised at their annual charity boxing evening held at Rivington Barn, and is distributed to various charities including the Boxing Club, "Round Table Children's Wish", "Whizz Kidz" and local charities.
The evening hosts a round of the national schoolboy championships and features schoolboy boxers aged 11 to 18. Amir Kahn fought in the competition in 2002.
The next charity boxing event is on October 22. Anyone interested in attending or sponsoring the event should contact Barney Wharton-Jones on Bolton 847770.
Reece Bretherton, senior coach and organiser of the boxing club is pictured receiving the cheque from Bolton Round tablers Barney Wharton-Jones, standing, and Gary Livesy, while Jack Catterall helps hold the cheque with other members of the club watching.
