THE European Union can expect stiff opposition if it relaxes the current deadlines aimed at ending animal testing of toiletries, North-west MEP Chris Davies warned.

His call came after the European Union's Scientific Committee on Cosmetic Products said the total abolition of animal tests within 10 years was "not feasible".

Mr Davies said: "Surely we can survive for a few years without having even bubblier bubble baths? To force animals to suffer so that essentially frivolous new items can be sold is simply not acceptable."
