A 19-YEAR-OLD lout has jailed and made the subject of a three year anti-social behaviour order after being convicted of assault.
Kenny Lee Ridgley, of Moss Place, Bury, was jailed for four months at Bury magistrates for his role in the attack in January this year.
The court heard that a 44-year-old man was verbally abused by a group of youths including Ridgley outside a supermarket in Brandlesholme Road, Bury, and then assaulted.
He was kicked and punched to the ground, leaving him with cuts and bruises.
As part of the ASBO, Ridgley is forbidden from acting in an anti-social manner, using abusive, threatening or intimidating language/behaviour in a public place or approaching any witnesses in the court case.
He is also banned from associating in a public place with two named individuals and from drinking in any place in which the public has access.
Insp Vincent Jones from Bury Police said: "This was a despicable and cowardly attack.
"I welcome both the custodial sentence and the imposition of a three year ASBO which I feel is more than appropriate in the circumstances."
