ANGRY commuters on Monday said timetable changes had led to "jam-packed" carriages.
Frustrated Manchester city centre workers were banned from getting on their usual 7.52am train at Farnworth because a guard ruled that it was already too full.
But Christine Corners, an insurance underwriter, said that when the next train arrived at the station at 8.40am it was even more packed.
This time they were allowed on the train but had to endure a 20-minute nightmare journey.
"We were almost nose-to-nose with the next person," said Mrs Corners, of Greenmount Park, Kearsley.
She is blaming the overcrowded trains on new timetables which came into force last month and reduced the number of commuter trains.
"The problem is they are not putting on more carriages to cope with the extra demand," said Mrs Corners, who pays £553 for her annual season ticket.
