YOUNGSTERS enjoyed a day of doing all things "green" at a special school event.
St Mary's Primary School, Horwich, took part in a variety of environmentally-aware activities such as walking to school, tidying up litter and collecting clothes and other items at home suitable for recycling.
And there were even sessions of bird watching.
The green theme extended to youngsters shedding their school uniform for green clothes and also green food at lunchtimes. Some pupils even sprayed their hair green.
School finance officer Rita Shaw said: "There has been a very good atmosphere in the school, it's been fantastic and the children have thoroughly enjoyed the day."
A total of 175 children walked to and from school together in a "walking bus", to help save the environment from car fumes and to cut down on traffic congestion.
Representatives from the Wildlife Trust and Bolton environmental team came into the school in Victoria Road, to talk to the children, along with the council's commercial services' green dinosaur.
At lunchtime pupils tucked into a feast of thai green chicken, green pepper and tomato pizza, green salad and green pasta, followed by a dessert of lime jelly.
