LEIGH RMI will attempt to put two disappointing defeats behind them and pick up precious points at home against Carlisle United on Tuesday night by David Magilton

The Railwaymen have a clean bill of health, but have to bounce back after leaking in four goals in each of their last two games.

"I know we can do better, and it is good that we have the chance to put it right straight away," said manager Phil Starbuck.

"We will make sure we refocus and that we are up for it. We are playing against another of the top teams and looking forward to it, as we have competed against the top teams, but have not been able to pick up the points. We have to stick together as we desperately need the points. "

RMI are languishing in the bottom three and have picked up just two points in their last five games, but have played four of the top six teams in that period. In contrast the Cumbrians are well on track to bounce back into the Football League at the first attempt. They are the only unbeaten team in the Conference and lie second in the table just a point behind Barnet.

But Carlisle have problems for the game and manager Paul Simpson was desperately trying to bolster his injury-ravaged squad, who are down to just 14 fit senior players, after influential midfielder Chris Lumsdon sustained a thigh injury before Saturday's win against Crawley Town.

Simpson, Carlos Roca, Andy Preece and Brian Shelley are also all on the sidelines, while Will McDonagh is in the middle of a three-match suspension.

Untried youngsters Dan Dillon and Lee Hamilton were on the substitutes' bench against Crawley.

Atherton LR travel to St Helens Town in the North West Counties League First Division (7.45pm).
