FORMER pupils of Rivington and Blackrod school will travel from all over the world for a special centenary reunion.
The school has one of the country's oldest former pupil associations and is celebrating its centenary year with a gala dinner and church service.
The Old Rivingtonians Association, consisting of former pupils and staff of Rivington and Blackrod High School and its predecessor Rivington and Blackrod Grammar School, is holding reunion celebrations this weekend with a gala dinner on Friday in the Lion of Vienna Suite at the Reebok Stadium, Middlebrook.
Around 400 people will be attending from all over the country, and overseas including Hong Kong, the Caribbean and France.
At the dinner, an exhibition of photographs, school uniform and other memorabilia reflecting both the Association and school life over the past century will take pride of place.
On Sunday a service will be held in the school's chapel at 2pm when the Alan Jenner memorial window will be dedicated in memory of one of the school's former headmasters.
Tickets are available from the Association's secretary Olive Fisher on 01204 697106 or email Drop a line...o.fisher@virgin.net.
