SPECULATION is rife about which celebrities will descend on Salford to appear in the hit West End comedy The Play What I Wrote at The Lowry.
Recent star guests stealing the spotlight on tour include Nigel Havers, Brian Conley, Patsy Palmer, Richard Wilson, Steven Tomkinson, Michelle Collins, Roger Moore, Denise Van Outen, Honor Blackman and Salford's own Robert Powell.
When The Play What I Wrote opened in London's West End, every single review was a rave, each one a sell out and it won every major theatre award.
Originally directed by Kenneth Branagh, The Play What I Wrote is a celebration of Britain's greatest comedy double act, Morecambe and Wise.
And just like in the Morecambe and Wise series, at every show there is a surprise celebrity guest.
Robert Robson, The Lowry's artistic director said: "Everyone here at The Lowry is really excited about The Play What I Wrote returning for a second time and about which celebrities might be appearing here.
"The producers have not even told us, so we will not know who is going to be on stage each night until they arrive at the stage door but then, that is half the fun.
"However, the show's producer, David Pugh, has promised us that it will be worth the wait and that no one will be disappointed."
In London, big names were queuing up to make a guest appearance.
Ralph Fiennes originally signed up to do three performances and had such a good time he ended up appearing 14 times.
"They are all the same," said David Pugh. "Everyone wants to do it again and again."
The Play What I Wrote runs until Saturday.
