A TRIATHLON for disabled young people has been cancelled due to the low number of entries.
The event known as the Greater Manchester Inclusive (Disability) Triathlon was to be held at Westhoughton Leisure Centre this Saturday. Organisers had planned a race involving cycling, swimming and running. But a council spokesman said other events would be held instead.
She said: "Triathlon is a new event which could explain the reason for the lack of response to this competition. As an alternative, we are offering young people with disabilities the opportunity to try out the various events in the triathlon at a series of taster sessions.
"These will include an athletics day during October half-term, swimming sessions in November, followed by a chance to try cycling later in the year."
