FAMILIES will be able to learn how their grandparents and great grandparents kept clean and did the house work during Family Learning Week in Bolton.
During the sessions entitled Dirt, Disease and Drudgery, visitors will be able see how things have changed from the dolly tub and tins bath days.
The week, running from October 11 until October 17 at libraries in the borough, will include fun sessions of stories, songs and rhymes for pre-school children with their parents and carers with "messy play" for the under fives.
Arts and crafts, keep fit games, radio broadcasting and activity sessions for school age children and their parents are being planned for after school. Workshops about schooling and the law, bullying, appeals, exclusions and changing schools are also included.
There will be an Out of Africa event where classes can enjoy African storytelling, drumming and an introduction to traditional African games.
During the week cartoonist Roy Mitchell will be showing families how to draw cartoons and caricatures and Bolton Wanderers Football Club will be helping families learn new computer skills.
