CHORLEY recorded their third consecutive win last weekend thanks to strong forward play which gave the backs good positive ball to work with.
Although Chorley dominated the opening exchanges, Lytham, with a penalty kick, converted from just outside the home team's 22.
Chorley's forwards soon applied more pressure and quick thinking from second row John Jackson led to Fijian style support and handling which resulted in Martin Riley cross over the line.
A second try followed when scrum half, Chris Highton, broke the line from the back of a ruck. He was tackled just short of the line, but the ball was quickly recycled and slick hands from the backs allowed winger Simon Frost to score, with Sam Keane converting.
The second half saw Lytham pile on the pressure but, with Chorley dominant at the set piece and hooker Matt Weaver taking some crucial ball against the head at the scrum, the home team's try line remained
untouched. With every man from 1 to 15 tackling bravely it took a dip in concentration and good individual skill from Lytham's winger to allow the away team back into the game with a late score.
The extra points where added to bring the difference down to just two points.
Chorley saw out the last five minutes to maintain their 100 per cent record this season and move up to third in the table, with only points difference separating the top three.
Final score: Chorley 12 Lytham 10
Chorley 2nd XV beat Kirby Lonsdale 3rds 42-0
