SILENCE is golden, peace and quiet. Surely all the noise in the modern world is affecting people in a negative manner, and they don't know it.
In Bolton 24/7, for example, we all experience rubber droning on tarmacadam, especially St Peter's Way; aircraft noise; hyperactive children, due to the additives in the food they eat; loud music; taxi drivers sounding their horns when picking up a fare; the phone ringing at tea-time when one wants to rest -- no thanks to the call centres and doorstep sales people who again call at tea-time.
I thank God I am mobile and can escape to Snowdonia now and again. Some things we cannot do anything about, but if there is a political party that can put in their manifesto, ie the banning of tele sales and doorstep callers, well, they will get my vote.
My home is my sanctuary, and the commercial world should not be allowed near. It should be ordered to advertise on TV or in newspapers like it used to be; then, if I want to look in the paper or TV for a commodity, it is my choice. This pressurised world is no good for the wellbeing of the nation.
