Kearsley take the local honours
THE annual angling battle of South Bolton took place last Sunday when Ringley-based Lord Nelson AC took on Kearsley AC in an inter-club match on Cudmores Number 2 and 3 Lakes.
The Kearsley lads routed the Ringleyites by 72-93pts with impressive middle order weights.
Paul Sharples of Lord Nelson won the match overall with 69lbs-2ozs of carp taken on the feeder with worm. Ian Longworth (Kearsley) fished a mixture of tip and pole with luncheon meat to take carp for a second placed weight of 37lbs-1ozs.
Another Kearsley angler John Berry was third with carp on pole for 35lbs-4ozs.
Others: 4th Alan Hughes (LNAC) 31lbs-0ozs, 5th Darren Bridge (KAC) 29lbs-2ozs, 6th Joe Killiner (KAC) 28lbs-4ozs, 7th. Kenny Stewart (LNAC) 26lbs-0ozs. Sections: A- A.Hughes (LNAC), B- D. Bridge (KAC), c- C. Dooley (kac).
Gordon Shorrock won the Empress Cup with 27lbs-13ozs of carp and roach from Doe Hey Top water.
Second was Paul Johnson who had four carp and bits for 27lbs-12ozs. Glynn Wray made third with 2 equal sized carp for a 19lbs total.
The sections went to Bob Fearnhead (13lbs-10ozs) and Mick Booth (13lbs-7ozs).
