THE proud mum of Olympic medallist Amir Khan will be a special guest at the Bolton Woman of the Year Wards and luncheon this month.
Mrs Salak Khan and Amir's sister Tabinda have been personally invited by the Mayor Cllr Prentice Howarth to the event on Friday, October 29 at the Reebok's Platinum Suite.
The awards will highlight the town's unsung heroines from all walks of life.
Mayor's secretary, Sally Hayes, said: "They have been invited as special guests by the Mayor. Everyone loves Amir and we thought it would be nice to honour the mum and sister who are behind him."
Mrs Khan was at the ringside in Athens along with the rest of Amir's family to see him win the historic silver medal in the boxing final.
Millions of television viewers saw him hug his mum after he left the ring.
