WANDERERS have appealed against goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen's sending-off during Sunday's 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough.
Jaaskelainen was shown the red card by referee Peter Walton for denying Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink a goalscoring chance when he brought down the Dutch striker.
However, Bolton boss Sam Allardyce believes full-back Ricardo Gardner was close enough to cover for the keeper and the club have appealed to the Football Association.
An FA spokesman said: "The club have submitted an appeal for wrongful dismissal and that will be heard on Friday."
If the appeal fails Jaaskelainen will be suspended for Bolton's home game against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Allardyce said following the game: "Jussi will be a big, big miss for us. It cost us two points against Middlesbrough and we won't know until his suspension is over if it will cost us any more."
