NIGHT in, night out, I have read with interest the letters and reviews on both sides of the Market Hall re-development plans.

Personally, I feel the decision to go ahead with the proposals doesn't matter one way or another, as the revamp won't make more people shop in Bolton.

I, for one, prefer not to come into town unless it is absolutely necessary. The reason is the extortionate amount charged on the car parks everywhere in Bolton town centre.

You are held to ransom every time you need to come to town. Even if you only need to nip somewhere, eg the sorting office for an undelivered parcel, you have to pay at least £1 for a two-minute errand.

If Bolton Council greatly reduced or scrapped car park charges, I for one would go into the town centre more often.

As it is, myself and many of my friends and family prefer to go to Middlebrook or the Trafford Centre. Parking is free and there is no time limit, so you can shop and have a meal at your leisure.

For goodness sake, Bolton Council, how many more letters do you need on this subject before you realise that in the long-run the town and its traders would benefit from free parking? There would be more customers for your new Market Hall, as well as the rest of the town centre.

Why not scrap all parking fees for, say, one month, and hear the shop tills ring?
