A POLICE officer has been jailed for two years for causing death by dangerous driving.
Matthew Monaghan, aged 22, of Openshaw, was also banned for four years for killing Good Samaritan Daniel Gammell who was trying to help car crash victims on the motorway.
Mr Gammell, aged 30, of Basildon, Essex, had stopped to aid people involved in a pile up on the M62 near Irlam when Monaghan's Renault Clio hit him at 2am.
Monaghan served with Merseyside Police and was returning from St Helens following a 10-hour shift at the time of the crash.
