A DNA test has proved that the new-born son of Kimberly Quinn is not the child of David Blunkett, a spokesman for the former Home Secretary has confirmed.
The spokesman said that Mr Blunkett had never claimed that one-month-old Lorcan was his child, and was "pleased" that any uncertainty over the baby had now been cleared up.
Mr Blunkett quit his Cabinet post last December following a string of allegations surrounding his affair with Mrs Quinn, and has taken legal action to gain access to her older son, William, who is understood to be his.
But his spokesman said that press reports that he was also seeking to establish his paternity of Lorcan, born on February 2, were inaccurate.
"Because of uncertainty about paternity, several weeks ago it was agreed with Mrs Quinn that a DNA test would be carried out," said the spokesman.
"The test was undertaken shortly after the birth. This has established that Mr Blunkett is not the childs father.
"He is pleased that this has been clarified and wishes to make clear that as far as he is concerned, there have never been, despite inaccurate press reports several weeks ago, any legal proceedings in relation to that child."
Mr Blunkett had a three-year affair with the married 44-year-old publisher of the Spectator, during which two-year-old William was born.
The relationship broke up in August last year.
