AMIR Khan rubbed shoulders withe some of Britain's biggest Olympic names to unveil the national team's new kit for Athens.

The country's only boxing representative sported the revolutionary sports kit, designed to keep Britain's Olympic hopefuls cool at this summer's Games, when they were unveiled in London.

The ClimaCool heat management system -- described as "personal air-conditioning" -- has been developed by Adidas using new fabrics and is designed to keep athletes cooler for longer, while combating the extreme temperatures they will encounter in Athens.

Scientists have recreated the weather conditions using environmental and climatic chambers, infra-red cameras and wind tunnels. Simon Clegg, chief executive of the British Olympic Association, said: "Athens 2004 is the culmination of years of hard work, training and preparation for our athletes but heat is a big consideration.

"Adidas has developed kit that addresses the problems of heat, allowing them to perform to their maximum potential. There is no question that Team GB will be the best prepared and equipped British Olympic team ever."

Amir Khan joined fellow athletes at an "Olympic fashion show" at the Royal Horticultural Hall, in London where fellow sporting models included athletes Lee McConnell, Jo Fenn, Jade Johnson, Donna Fraser and Marlon Devonish and rower James Cracknell.
