A MAN has died after a fire at his home in Tyldesley.

The 40-year-old man, who lived alone, was pronounced dead at the scene after a fire started in his bedroom on Saturday morning.

Firefighters were called to the semi-detached house on Norton Road, Mosley Common, at 9.30am to see the fire already blazing in the back upstairs bedroom.

Neighbours said a man was inside and four firefighters broke into the property.

The man was carried out of the house after being found downstairs, but waspronounced dead at the scene. An investigation into the cause of the blaze is being carried out by the fire service and police.
