KARATE kids from Bolton are set to fight for their country after earning the right to take part in world championships.
The six youngsters from the Gouldings Freestylers Karate Club, based at the Sutton Estate Community Centre, Deane, battled their way through the English WKA Allstyles championships in Manchester.
Each of them ended up with medals, which gives them automatic entry to the World Championships in November.
Their instructor, Jamie Goulding also followed up the success by winning his ninth British title at the British WAKO championships in Nottingham.
In Manchester, there was gold for 13-year-old Astley Bridge girl Terrill Longworth in the girls 45kg semi full contact category.
This was followed by 10-year-old Amy Watkin from Deane taking silver in the girls 40kg semi full contact category and bronze in the 40kg light contact kick boxing division.
Hannah Wright, aged 12, from Astley Bridge took silver in the 50kg semi full contact category while a bronze in the boys 45kg semi full contact division went to 13-year-old Danny Openshaw, from Bury.
In the adult sections 21-year-old Barry Watkin took a silver in the mens 80kg light contact division and another silver was gained by Jamie Goulding in the 64kg semi full contact division.
The successful fighters now face the task of raising the cash to enable them to compete in Canada.
Anyone who can help or wants more information about the club can contact Jamie Goulding on Bolton 389929.
