NEW signing Peter Carty made an immediate impact for Boro as he fired his side to their first victory in seven games.
The full-back volleyed home after only 12 minutes to give Kevin Glendon's side the perfect start against in-form Lincoln.
Steve Foster netted his 24th goal of the season when he headed home Tony Battersby's cross, but Battersby lasted only three more minutes before he was sent off alongside Lincolns Mark Home for fighting.
United pressed and forced Boro keeper Danny Hurst into a string of fine saves. But his resolve was finally broken when Gary Walters produced a calm finish from 15 yards out.
The home side had chances to snatch a point, but a superb double save from Hurst kept them at bay before Foster sealed the points with a goal in injury time.
