A CELEBRATION of the work of churches across Bolton will be held next month with a council-sponsored exhibition at the Festival Hall.
The event, called Happy Easter, has been organised following council sponsored events to celebrate Eid for the Muslim community and Diwali for the Hindus.
Canon Michael Williams from Bolton Parish Church said: "A number of us have been saying that if we celebrate these important events in the life of the Muslim and Hindu faiths, we ought also to have a special Christian event sponsored by the local authority."
The Bishop of Bolton, the Rt Rev David Gillett, and the head of the Methodist church got together and wrote to churches in the town and received 16 replies.
The event on Monday, April 4, will be opened by the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Prentice Howarth at noon and will run until 3.30pm.
