He booked Wanderers a date with Liverpool in the Coca-Cola Cup Final on April 2.
The hero of Burnden - once again - said: "It's a big day out for us but we are not just going to Wembley to make up the numbers.
"This could mean European football for Bolton."
HOME Secretary Michael Howard today announced his intention to impose far harsher standards for community sentences which involve working within the community.
In the wake of scandals over offenders being sent on special trips, including visits overseas, he declared: "The days of the community sentences being seen as a soft option are over.
"Offenders should be punished not rewarded for their crimes."

THE Bolton plant of Beloit Walmsley is to start production again on Monday - 18 weeks and four days after it was last working.
It brings to an end what is believed to be the longest-ever industrial stoppage in the history of the engineering industry in Bolton.
It started on October 31 last year when 320 machine shop and foundry workers walked out in a dispute over new working methods the firm wanted to introduce.
THE fight to save Bolton Community Health Council is gaining momentum, officials say.
The threat to the public's watchdog on health matters has come in a consultative document from Health Secretary Mr Patrick Jenkin.
Rev Bryan Palmer-Smith, the Bolton CHC chairman, met the health minister recently and told a CHC meeting this week that he was "optimistic" that the council would be retained.

BOLTON'S general rate for the coming year is likely to remain unchanged.
At a special meeting today the Finance Committee recommended that the rate for Bolton remain at 26s 3d and that the Astley Bridge rate be increased by 3d to 26s.
Since May, 1954, the orthopaedic ward at Bolton Royal Infirmary has been used as a recovery ward in connection with tonsil cases.
On March 28 it will be reopened as an orthopaedic ward.
During the period that the ward was used for recovery purposes, it helped to deal with 1,473 children receiving operative treatment.
The Bolton-born composer, Thomas B. Pitfield, has produced a new work, Dance Tune and Variations, which receives its first performance at Bolton Technical College on Saturday.
It will be performed by the people to whom it is dedicated - Mr Frank Milner, conductor, and Bolton Youth Orchestra.

March 9, 1905
AN exhibition in washing canaries was given on Monday evening at the Joiners' Arms Hotel by members of the Bolton and District Ornithological and Roller Canary Society.
Messrs J. B. Shires, J. Stringer, S. Smith and F. Proctor minutely explained the handling of a bird and process of washing.
A meeting was afterwards held under the presidency of Mr T. Laidlow, when Mr F. Proctor spoke on the different breeds of canaries.
