OWNER David Whelan turned his focus back to Wigan's Barclays Premiership promotion push after reaching a compromise with Greater Manchester Police to allow games to go ahead at the JJB Stadium for the remainder of the season.
GMP claim they are owed £300,000 by the Latics for policing matches, and that has raised the threat recently that the JJB Stadium's safety certificate would be withdrawn.
Were that to have happened, matches would have had to be played behind closed doors, moved to alternative venues or cancelled altogether.
However Whelan met GMP representatives yesterday and was delighted that the two sides were able to thrash out a deal.
"This is great news for us as it means that all our remaining fixtures will be played here at the JJB Stadium," he said
