ON Saturday I was driving along Chorley Old Road when a black Golf flew out of Captains Clough Road, pedal to the metal, not only putting the two occupants in the car at risk, but also driving far too fast to be able to handle an unexpected incident
I pulled up behind the Golf at the traffic lights by Morrisons and noticed the driver was using a mobile phone, committing two offences in a matter of seconds. By the time we approached the lights at Chorley Old Road, he was STILL on the mobile phone.
As the traffic started to move, the Golf, that was in the inside lane, shot like a bullet in front of me, overtook a car, then continued down towards St George's Road weaving in and out from lane to lane, overtaking while still on the mobile.
The police haven't got the time or the manpower to watch every car, 24 hours a day, so we responsible, law-abiding drivers should be able to get their registration, date, time and place and report them to the first police car/policeman we see.
I find it unbelievable that drivers on the busy motorways are still chatting away on their mobiles.
Nothing is THAT important to have your phone switched on in the car, and, if it is, then pull over and DON'T PUT MY PRECIOUS LIFE AT RISK!
