TWO teenage girls have been banned from all Bolton town centre shopping malls after a four-month campaign of abuse and violence.

Jade Cameron, aged 14, and 16-year-old Samantha Foster spat, stole, swore and brawled with each other in busy shopping areas - wreaking misery on staff and the public.

The pair were on Friday branded "out of control"as Bolton magistrates imposed a temporary anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) which means they face prison if they are seen in any of the out-of-bounds zones.

Members of the public were today urged to shop the pair to police if they flout the order.

They were also banned from using foul, threatening or intimidating language, damaging property, using or threatening violence or meeting with each other or other people named in court.

Jade Cameron was also banned from drinking in public.

A catalogue of offences read to the court detailed how the pair:

l Threw a lit cigarette at a security guard

l Set fire to bins

l Returned to a shopping centre on eight occasions on one day after being thrown out

l Invented a game in which they switched off the power to escalators

l Used racist language.

Town hall bosses rushed through the interim order after receiving a string of complaints from shopkeepers and business owners.

Bolton magistrates heard that one security guard feared coming to work at Crompton Place shopping centre because of the torment he faced on a daily basis from Cameron, of Heatherfield, Sharples, and Foster, of Ferndown Road, Harwood.

The guard was verbally abused, spat on and had a lit cigarette thrown on him by Foster after he asked them to leave the centre.

Security staff devised a special technique to escort the pair out of the centre which needed two guards for each of them, said Helen Gorman, prosecuting.

Cameron, the daughter of a former police officer, repeatedly harassed staff at the front counter of Bolton Police Station, the court heard.

She also lashed out at police on two occasions when she was arrested, said Ms Gorman.

On other occasions the pair were seen fighting with each other outside Boots in Hotel Street.

Ms Gorman said: "Some of these offences may seem relatively minor, but the frequency with which they were being committed is a major factor.

"They have a clear lack of fear of any type of authority.

"This security guard dreads coming to work because he knows what is coming day after day.

"It seems that the two defendants are completely out of control and this order is necessary to protect the community.

"Even during this week, there were further offences which will be brought before the court."

The areas they are banned from take in the Market Place, the Market Hall, Crompton Place, Oxford Street, Newport Street, Mealhouse Lane and Hotel Street.

They were also banned from Morrisons and Sainsbury supermarkets in the town centre, as well as Ashburner Street market and shops around Knowsley Street.

If they are convicted of flouting the strict conditions of the order, they risk a maximum of five years in prison.

Cameron's father, ex-police officer Todd Cameron, said after the hearing: "I can't defend her. She deserves it."

Rob Dyson, business crime manager for Bolton Town Centre Company, said: "I'm relieved that these interim orders have been granted today.

"It's been a hard and testing four months for businesses who have had to suffer with the nuisance caused by these two.

"I hope this sends a clear message that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated in the town centre."

The pair will reappear at Bolton Magistrates Court on April 14 for a hearing at which representatives from Bolton Council will apply for full ASBOS which could last as long as five years.

Anyone who witnesses an offender breaching the conditions of their orders should contact police on 0161 872 5050.
