STAFF stepped back in time, donning old fashioned capes to help celebrate the 100th birthday of Fall Birch Hospital in Lostock.
It was founded in 1905 as the borough's tuberculosis hospital and went on to become a pulmonary hospital in 1948 Today it houses a ward for women suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's.
Ward Sister Darinda Farrington said: "This is an important historic landmark which deserves recognition. There was a real festive feel to the afternoon with a buffet and musical entertainment.
"We wanted to mark this day and to celebrate the incredible developments and changes there have been over the past 100 years in the way in which people with mental health issues are treated. We are very proud of the achievements we have made."
