WIGAN's Great Britain winger Brian Carney has been cleared to make his comeback in Friday's first Super League derby with Leigh Centurions in 12 years.
The Irishman has missed all of Warriors' five matches so far because of complications caused by the metal plates inserted in the ankle he broke 12 months ago.
Warriors coach Denis Betts has yet to decide whether Carney will start Friday's match or go onto the bench. His last match was for Great Britain in the Gillette Tri-Nations series final last November.
"Brian has been cleared to play and so is in the 20," said Betts. "He has worked very hard and has been training with the team for the last month or so. He is keen to play."
Wigan are also boosted by the return of second row forward Harrison Hansen, who has missed the last three matches with a knee injury.
