I WRITE in response to Mr Derbyshire's letter in the Bolton Evening News on Saturday, March 12.
He states that his grove has not been gritted during the light fall of snow, and vehicles had trouble getting round.
I would like to point out that the teams of operatives on the gritters have done a commendable job over the winter, and all the main streets of Bolton were gritted during and before each episode of bad weather.
If Mr Derbyshire is worried about ice and snow on his street, he would need to report it, and if a gritter could physically grit the street then it would be done, if not then there will be a salt bin in the near vicinity.
I would like to also point out the long hours that the operatives do on top of their normal hours of work, sometimes working all night to make certain that our streets are kept safe.
