DID you, or a member of your family, win a medal in the 1949 Scott Cup?
A lady has contacted this office to say that her daughter found the medal in Bolton in the 1970s and meant to try to trace the original owner. As with many good intentions the search never took place, and the medal stayed in a drawer where it has just been rediscovered.
The medal is possibly pewter, and has a crown on the top with a shield inside inscribed "1949 Scott Cup". There is also a name on the reverse, but we are not making this public to ensure that the medal is returned to its rightful owner or a descendant.
We have no mention of the Scott Cup in the Bolton Evening News files so I tried an internet search and found 166 mentions, from a Scottish School to a croquet competition.
