AN attempt was taking place on Wednesday to create the world's largest toast mosaic.
More than 7,000 slices of bread and two vats of strawberry jam were being used as part of the record attempt in Chester.
The aim is to break the record held by Maurice Bennett, from New Zealand, who created a 12m x 4.1m mosaic of the former Mayor of Wellington in February, 1999.
Wednesday's bid is one of the attractions of the Chester Food and Drink Festival, which runs from March 26 to April 3.
It will measure 5m x 13m and feature the festival logo.
The record attempt began at 7.30am in the Town Hall square and was expected to be completed by 4pm.
