WOULD-BE young athletes are being sought to take part in the country's largest youth sport event to be held in Bolton this summer.
The Greater Manchester Youth Games 2005, will take place in the town for the third year running, on the weekend of June 11 and 12.
But the organisers want young people to join in the trials for the games and be part of Team Bolton.
They are looking for sporting youngsters to join in a variety of sports from netball to swimming.
Basketball trials will be held on Monday, April 18, from 4pm to 6pm at Smithills Sports Centre. These are open to boys and girls in Years Seven and Eight.
Trials will take place for the girls football team, aquathlon team and swimming and young people with disabilities swimming teams during April. Any young people interested in representing Bolton in these sports should contact their school PE teachers or Bolton Council's Sport, Health and Inclusion team on 01204 334238.
Players are also being recruited for the volleyball, table tennis and judo teams and young people interested in participating should call the Sport, Health and Inclusion team.
Teams are currently being selected through schools for the other Youth Games sports cricket, rugby union, rugby league and athletics, including the young people with disabilities athletics team.
Ten Greater Manchester boroughs compete in the games which will be hosted for the third year by Bolton.
