THE Bolton Technical College engineering students were responsible for one of the town's traditional delicacies, it seems.
Marie Walsh, owner of Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe in Churchgate, says some of the well-dressed lads used to buy pasties and barm cakes.
They then put them together, to create the pastie barm known to generations of customers.
Marie remembers that they had to get the orders ready early because the students did not have much time for lunch.
But although some people still enjoy this distinctive filling fare, modern dieting trends have reduced the appeal.
"It is not as popular now because some people watch their figure," she says.
Marie remembers that the students were based somewhere close to Churchgate and would like to know where that was.
