A CAFE and sandwich takeaway is enjoying a slice of fame after its comedy name earned it a place in a new book.

The phone has not stopped ringing at Nice Buns, Big Baps, on Raphael Street, Halliwell, since it appeared on the radio and in a national newspaper this week.

It is one of the many shops around the country to be included in Shop Horror: The Best of the Worst in British Shop Names.

Joanne Jones, who owns the shop, said: "I've had calls from all over the country, including the Shetland Isles, from people who think that it's a smart name."

She said that Guy Swillingham, the book's author, was very impressed when he went to see the shop." The author said our name was the best he had seen. They came and took loads of pictures for the book. I think there's going to be a few pages on us," said Mrs Jones, aged 36.

The shop, which has been open for three years, has had an upturn in customers since the media picked up on its wacky title.

Mrs Jones said: "I just wanted a name that people would remember. I think it's a great name."

Shop Horror is a book that looks at the best British shop puns and includes other shop names like Blonde Dye Bleach, The Cod Father, Floral 'N' Hardy, Wish You Wash Here, and Shoe-Be-Do. It will be published by Fourth Estate next month.
