ROBBIE Savage has done untold harm to his reputation as one of football's biggest battlers with his decision to retire from international football.
He told new Wales boss, John Toshack, that he will no longer be available for his country after Toshack informed the Blackburn midfielder he had left him out of the squad for the next game.
Savage says Toshack left him out because he just doesn't like him.
As someone who has always admired Savage's never-say-die spirit and his commitment and determination to make the most of his limited natural talent, it is disappointing to see him throw in the towel on his international career over something as silly as a clash of personalities.
A real fighter would have viewed his omission from the international squad as a challenge.
He would have knuckled down and made sure he could no longer be overlooked for his country by producing his best form for his club.
Unfortunately, the episode has left Savage looking like a spoilt child.
