ATHERTON LR have acted quickly to replace top scorer Paul Crompton, with the signing of former Port Vale striker Stephen Torpey.
Crompton departed for struggling UniBond outfit Clitheroe on Monday but the gap has been quickly filled by hitman Torpey - who once scored 40 goals in a season for Prescot Cables.
Atherton have been struggling with injuries over the last few weeks, with Crompton and Phil Howard unavailable. But Howard could return within a fortnight, and youngster Scott Walker should also keep his place in the side against Trafford, having scored on his debut in a 4-1 defeat against Skelmersdale on Thursday.
Lee Bowles could make a surprise return for Colls as they go on the hunt for survival points at Squires Gate.
The defender broke his cheekbone a fortnight ago, but has made a quick recovery and could return to the side this weekend.
Cols, boosted by a good second half performance in a 2-1 defeat at Maine Road in midweek, will name new signings Brian Love and Warren Dyson in the squad.
