LEIGH'S long and weary season may have only produced three victoiries but coach Steve Bleasdale believes there is still plenty to play for in the nine remaining games.

The RMI boss has already set his sights on next season and is using the rest of the season to decide who he will keep for a campaign in Conference North.

"It is always a nightmare for a manger to decide who he will let go, but it has to be done," said Bleasdale.

"We have suffered three successive 3-0 defeats, but I am hoping we can still pick up a few more points. I am used to winning and a win would give the lads' confidence a boost."

The Railwaymen take on Burton Albion at Hilton Park Saturday, a side they took a point off early in the season.

Bleasdale added: "They are a strong side, but if we can keep a clean sheet until half-time we can try and nick a goal in the second."

The manager has been trying hard to bring in a centre-half for the injured Chris Clarke, and a big striker, but he is finding it difficult to bring in players with the right pedigree.

He has signed former Runcorn and Barrow striker Lee Mulvaney, while youngster Mark Peers has been loaned out to Southport and Danny Byrne will follow soon to another club.

Bleasdale said: "They are young lads who need to build up their confidence and play in the Conference North against players who are not quite as strong as the Conference full-time professionals."

Striker Kevin Sanasy has had to return to Bradford because Leigh have exceeded their scholars quota.
