YOUNGSTERS at a Bolton primary school are being treated to a preview screening of a new film.
Pupils from St George's Primary School, in The Hoskers, Westhoughton, are looking forward to seeing the animated movie Valiant, courtesy of Vue Cinemas, on Sunday. The cinema, based at the Middlebrook Retail Park, has provided the school tickets as part of a fundraising effort. Under the scheme, schools will be given enough tickets to sell to the community to raise cash.
Mark de Quervain, marketing director at Vue, said: "Local cinemas are an important community resource and the response has been very good. The schools are delighted with this fun and innovative way of raising money and given its success it is certainly a programme we will look to extend in the future."
Valiant is a CGI animated comedy that tells the story of a lowly wood pigeon of the same name who overcomes his small size to become a hero in Great Britain's Royal Homing Pigeon Service during the Second World War. It features the voices of Ewan McGregor, Ricky Gervais, Tim Curry, John Cleese, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Laurie and Rik Mayall.
It is due to be released on Friday.
